The land of Pathanamthitta is a holy place for all the religious denominations especially for Christians. This is the holy land where two great forefathers, St. Thomas the Apostle of India and Mar Ivanios, the founder of the Malankara re-union movement left their footprints to be walked by their followers. The famous Ecumenical Church of St. Thomas at Nilackal as well as the Mundal Mala (the Darf Mountains) of Perunad where Mar Ivanios built his first Monastery belongs to the district of Pathanamthitta. Later the St. Thomas Christians in this part of Kerala experienced the boundless flow of divine blessings, upholding the ideals of the founder of the re-union movement, the Servant of God Mar Ivanios. Therefore, the Bethany Sisters who opted for the province of Pathanamthitta should be pledged to continue the dedicated work of our Apostle and our founder so as to give great joy to the entire world. It is our responsibility to continue the great work of witnessing Christ among the people here just as the Apostles who became, “His witness in Jerusalem, and in Judea and Samaria and to the end of the world” (Acts 1:8).
